Outer Court is now closed for the 2002-2003 class year.
We are trying to develop a new section on Shadow work, the Home of the Sphinx. Let us know what you think of the idea and the look of it. [MINI-UPDATE, November 7, 2002: another Shadow has been surfaced! There are now 3 total.] While you're waiting for more meat, check out our Reading List for other resources for Shadow work.
There are some updates to the Members page and to the Temple, including a new on-site shrine to Oshun. Also, there are plans underway for our Open Beltane Ritual on May 4, and possibly having a table at the Long Beach Womanspirit Fair in Long Beach on June 8. More as it develops!
Where's the new content, you ask? We want CONTENT!
Well, I'm working on it. I've been very busy with things like, oh, moving to a house and initiating people. Right now I'm tidying up things like links. (The Guestbook is fixed, for example.) After that, I'm hoping to expand the Temple and update the Members section.
By the way, have you noticed that there are NO BANNER ADS on this site now? Huzzah!
The Outer Court (Lyceum entry level) is now CLOSED for this year: no other new students will be taken at this time. Welcome to our new students, and a blessed Samhain season to everyone!
A new article has been posted in our Articles section: The Connection Between Isis and Morgan, by Linda Iles. Linda is Priestess Hierophant of the Lyceum of Isis, Lotus of Alexandria. We thank her for the article on our Matron! There have also been additions to the booklists. Current and potential students take note!
This year's OUTER COURT is now open. Click for details on the first meeting!
Estara's birthday. A very merry birthday to me.
I don't need to tell you what the news is. Our chosen memorial is here.
This year's OUTER COURT is now open. Click for details on the first meeting!
We are starting a new section, The Lady's Temple. There are also new bios in the Members section, which has been reorganized.
Ozma has begun work on her fairy tour! Check out her page on fairy cats.
We have lost an Iseum member. See his memoriam here.
And about time, too, you say!
A new Webring has been added in the Links section. I have removed the Songs section, because it wasn't very extensive or interesting. There is a new section, Ozma's Guide to Faery, which is child-friendly but not child-exclusive. (The adults might, for example, want to check out her oil recipes!)
This year's Outer Court is now closed. Welcome to those who have joined our teaching circle! We have added a new One-Click Activist site and updated several of our Webrings. Some new articles are in the works but are not posted yet...honestly, I have NOT forgotten all about the page! Incidentally, did you know that this site is now more than a year old? I didn't either, until I looked at the Previous Updates! How time flies!
I've left the "vote" link up, but obviously the vote is over in the U.S., and quite a hairy one it's turned out to be. Please join me in wishing positive energy into the process, and especially to those still counting and recounting in Florida, so that the outcome will be for the greater good of our land and our people.
The Outer Court is up and running! Because classes have now begun, the Outer Court will be closed as of October 11. If you are interested in classes for the upcoming year, please make contact before this date!
Our Webrings are currently in a state of frequent flux, as more and more Ringmasters defect from the evil clutches of Yahoo. I am making the changes when I can, but please bear with us if a Webring is temporarily nonfunctional.
Our Outer Court for the 2001 first degree Lyceum course is now forming. Our orientation meeting will be held on September 24, 2000. If you are in San Diego or Orange County, you can email for details. We do not have a long-distance study course available at this time.
We have also started an egroup for all members of the Iseum. Unlike the Lyceum, the Iseum is open to all interested parties regardless of distance from the Hearth, so please sign up! The list is at http://www.egroups.com/group/GreenWorldIseum.
This update is mostly of a personal nature; I have expanded my public Craft name from Estara to Estara Korai. This is intended to help avoid confusion between myself and the growing number of similar-sounding names that have appeared in the last year or so.
There is another One-Click Activism site at the bottom of the main page, this one for big cats. Also, I have changed the Guestbook, opting for one that allows more control, including the ability to remove those lovely ads for porn sites that were being posted to the old book. I apologize to those of you who signed the original, and ask that you come and check out the new book, which I think is much nicer. If you haven't been by since June 28, I will reiterate the previous update...our Outer Court materials are now up...follow the Lyceum link to them.
The Lyceum's Outer Court training materials are now posted and available to anyone who wants to learn a little more about Wicca and/or our approach to it. Follow the Lyceum link there or go directly from here. If you are local to Southern California, we will soon be opening our in-person Outer Court for the next year. Please email if you are interested.
Again, we have added a couple more SoCal Pagan links, and large sections have been changed to table form so they take up less room and are easier to browse (I hope). Also, a few little additions to the Lyceum booklist, including the long-promised links to those wonderful articles by Ivo Dominguez and Judy Harrow. Speaking of the Lyceum, I am considering posting our Outer Court materials so that they are universally available to anyone interested. Stay tuned....
Extra bit of update, June 22, 2000
We won an award! It's lower down on this page. ^_^
We've added a section to the bottom of this page, One-Click Activism, since there are now several of these wonderful sites available. We have also added a couple of Southern California pagan links, and divided that section so that stores and other groups and resources are separate.
Little is new here; this is a busy time of year for us. ^_~ However, we would like to direct your attention to the Glamour 2000 campaign (linked above), designed to nurture awareness of Magic and Faery in the day-to-day mundane world. Although the main thrust of the campaign was during the week of Beltane, interested parties are encouraged to carry the idea forward throughout the year! The Web site gives a list of ideas if you need inspiration.
Also, does anyone know of a good free Guestbook? We're not terribly happy with ours....
Many thanks to those who participated in the first Race to Save the Rain Forest! All the participants together raised $35,000 and saved 1000 acres of rain forest--and Care2.com matched the final donation, so that in all, 2000 acres were bought by the Nature Conservancy! Because the first race was so successful, Care2.com and The Nature Conservancy have started a second race, which will last until August 1 (Lammas) of 2000.
Please take advantage of this Veil-thinned time to enjoy the beauty that is all around you...and think about how you can make more beauty happen. Many blessings of Beltane to you!
A few new links and a new Webring have been added to the Links page, and links have been checked.
New members Fenvala and Shekinah have been listed on the Members page. Also, the Elenari Language Dictionary has been posted in Articles. (Since our tradition sometimes uses the Shiri dialect of Elenari language as a ritual language, this link is recommended to students!)
Happy Lupercalia all! The above link to "Race to Save the Rainforest" is the main news. You click, sponsors pay! It's easy!! Also, we have two new members (one in the Lyceum), Their intros will come soon. I have hopefully made the links more readable (yellow instead of blue).
As you can see from the change to our intro, the Lyceum is now officially open. I am also (finally!) starting to add to the poetry section, and there are new links, including some amusing webrings.
I (Estara) am playing with this page briefly, before I undergo consecration as a Priestess Hierophant TONIGHT. ^_^ I anticipate being able to go forward with the founding of a Lyceum in the near future: the beginning-level materials are done and I am working on a course for FOI Ordination. That information will be up soon. Meanwhile, I have put up a booklist of suggested reading for those who would like to see what kinds of things we're hoping to do with the Lyceum...or those who just like booklists. ^_^
We have finally broken down and found a less memory-intensive way of organizing this index page! If you miss the old forest and would like to see it sitting quietly by itself where it can't crash anyone's computer, click here.
Estara, the Iseum founder, will soon (barring any sudden setbacks, Goddess forbid!) be initiated as a Priestess Heirophant and Adept in the FOI, at which point we will be able to offer training leading to Magi and/or Adepti Degrees within the Fellowship. Obviously we're not there yet, but let us know if you would be interested in updates as to what courses we will be offering!
