Welcome!

I am Princess Ozma of Oz, and I would like to welcome you to this tour of Fairyland.  As you may know if you have read our history, Oz is one fairy country; but there are very many more.  Some, like Oz, were only recently discovered by humans; others have been known and spoken about for hundreds of years!

We in Oz have only discovered computers and the Internet very recently, and I am very excited to learn of so many fairy-friends all over the world.  I hope to have a lot to share with you soon...fairy recipes, descriptions and pictures of different fairies and fairy creatures, a list of my favorite books about fairies and magic...and whatever you share with me!

You're welcome to browse through what I have so far....

And by the way, wherever you see this star twinklestar.gif (1459 bytes)   you can click on it to find a hidden story!

But first, a word to the wise:

Some people, I must tell you, have very silly ideas about making all sorts of "rules" about fairies.  Some people don't even believe that there are any fairies at all!  Other people know that we are here, but try to tell everyone that fairies are only of this kind or that kind, that they must look a certain way.   We must have wings, for example, or we must not have wings.  We are tiny, or people-size, or gigantic.  We are friendly and cheerful, or powerful and stern.   We help plants grow, or we would never bother with such a little thing.  As if all fairies were exactly the same!

The one thing you must know above all else, is that the world of Faery (this is how adults like to spell it, now) is very big, bigger perhaps than you can even imagine.  And everywhere you go, things are different.  There really are no "rules" that apply to all of us!
